New Service Introduction
LSVT-BIG
LSVT-BIG is an intense, 4-week program that helps people with Parkinson’s Disease to relearn normal-sized movement, to develop a life-long habit, and to engage in a regular, individualized exercise program. With vigorous practice of key activities, people with Parkinson’s can enhance their quality of movement, walking, strength, balance, and their ability to be independent and to participate in life for as long as possible. This can lead to improved self-confidence, mood, and sleep as well as improvement in other non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s.
The program requires one hour of training, four days a week, for 4 weeks, plus homework. The therapist will coach you, one-on-one, to perform at your optimal level in order to help you meet your fitness and functional goals. If you have gone through this program before, an occasional session can help to maintain your motivation to continue with this empowering exercise habit.
No physician referral is required.
Physiotherapy treatments may qualify toward a tax deductible medical expense.
Please consult with a qualified accountant for personalized details.
Service costs may be covered through Blue Cross, Veterans Affairs, Manitoba Public Insurance and other extended health benefit plans. Direct billing to insurers is available through many plans.
